Abstract:

To provide a data duplication method for reducing a data storage area held in a storage system, without exerting an adverse influence upon operations of higher-order computers.

In a first storage system, information relating to update of data stored in the first storage system is stored as a journal. Specifically, the journal comprises the copy of data used for the update and update information such as a write instruction at update time. A second storage system acquires the journal via a communication line between the first storage system and the second storage system. The second storage system holds the copy of data held in the first storage system and uses the journal to update data corresponding to data of the first storage system in the order of data update in the first storage system.
