PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle travel system and a vehicle automatic traveling method capable of making a vehicle travel according to a flexibly changeable travel diagram on an exclusive road. SOLUTION: The operation processing part 16a of a central management center 16 automatically prepares a travel diagram on an exclusive road including times when each vehicle arrives and start at each part where vehicles pass each other and arrives at the target part where vehicles pass each other, etc., on the basis of scheduled travel information transmitted from communication equipment 26 which is respectively mounted on each vehicle 3 and transmits the scheduled travel information including the next part where vehicle pass each other and to/from which each vehicle proceeds or starts, their scheduled times and the target part where vehicles pass each other on the exclusive road 4 by using a memory 16b so that each vehicle can satisfy a travel constraint condition on the exclusive road, and this system is provided with magnetic nails 16, loop coils 12, local controllers 13, inter-vehicle on road communication equipment 21, magnetic sensors 22 and vehicle controllers 24 which allow each vehicle to automatically travel on the exclusive road according to the travel diagram.
