To provide a method of extracting the outline of a building capable of accurately and automatically providing information on the profile of the building.

A building area 2 is extracted from laser data 1 provided by laser radiation from a sky, the extracted building area 2 is projected on a picked-up image 3 showing an laser radiated area, and outline information provided by applying an edge extraction processing to the picked-up image 3 in the building area 2 projected on the picked-up image 3 is extracted as a building edge area 4. Then, the building edge area 4 on the extracted picked-up image 3 is orthographically projected and converted to extract as the building outline 5.
