To reduce an operation required for the administrator by enabling the next reboot, when operating a database system by a software, for example SolsticeDiskSuite software of Sun Microsystems Inc., which comprises two magnetic disks and disables to start up the system at the next reboot when the normal StateDB is less or equal to 1/2 of the total in the magnetic disks, even if an error occurs on the StateDB in one of the disks.
By monitoring failure or a sign of failure of the StateDB on either two magnetic disks DISK#1 or DISK#2 to remove three StateDBs from the appropriate magnetic disk when failure or a sign of failure is detected, the number of the StateDB is reduced from three each of the disk DISK#1 and DISK#2, six StateDBs in total, to three StateDBs in one of the disks and the normal StateDB becomes 3/3 or more than 1/2. Thus the system starts up normally at the next reboot.
