To provide an optical device in which excited light is surely made incident at a high incident efficiency into a first clad 12 of a double clad fiber 1 in which a second clad 13 is composed in a porous structure.
An incident region in which the exciting light propagates is formed, which is connected to a multimode type optical fiber stretched from an external exciting light source, at the incident end of a double clad fiber 2 having a single mode core 21 in which an amplifying medium is doped, a first clad 22 which covers the periphery of the single mode core 21 and a second clad 23 which is composed of a porous structure including a lot of fine pores 23a and covers the periphery the first clad 22. A non-tapered part which is formed with an outer diameter which is the same as the outer diameter of the multimode type optical fiber and a tapered part which is converged to the outer diameter of the first clad of the double clad fiber of the non-tapered part are formed on the incident end side of the incident region.
