To provide a manufacturing method of an alkaline storage battery in which the arrangement of electrodes or the like in a chemical formation process is optimized and an improvement in productivity is attained.
This manufacturing method is constituted such that a group of electrode plates 1 in which a plurality of electrode plates 2 and a plurality of dummy metal plates 3 are alternately arranged and a separator 4 is arranged between the electrode plate 2 and the dummy metal plate 3 is housed in a chemical tank 6 and by carrying out a chemical formation process in an alkaline solution, an alkaline storage battery is manufactured. As a separator 4, an end separators 4a which are arranged at both ends and an inner separator 4b which is arranged at a place other than both the ends are used, and the inner separator 4b has a structure that forms a gap 7 between the electrode plate 2 and the dummy metal plate 3 and the end separator 4a has a structure that forms no gap. Further, when the electrode plate 2 is a negative electrode plate, a maximum effect is exhibited.
