Abstract:

To provide a solid polyelectrolyte membrane producible at a relatively low cost and having high proton conductivity in a wide temperature region and excellent solvent resistance, to provide a raw material monomer composition and to provide a method for producing the solid polyelectrolyte membrane and use thereof.

The solid polyelectrolyte membrane is obtained by polymerizing an unsaturated monomer prepared by modifying (a) a phosphate group-containing unsaturated monomer having one or more phosphate groups and ethylenically unsaturated bonds in the molecule, respectively with (b) an amino group-containing unsaturated monomer having one or more substituted or unsubstituted amino groups and ethylenically unsaturated bonds in the molecule, respectively and has quaternary ammonium base in which a part or most of hydroxy groups in the phosphate groups are reacted with the amino group. The solid polyelectrolyte membrane can be produced at the relatively low cost and has the high proton conductivity in the wide temperature region and the excellent solvent resistance.
