Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cleaning water while markedly reducing the quantity of sludge generated as compared with a conventional method by recovering nickel and zinc in wastewater at the time of treatment of nickel and zinc-containing wastewater and recovering nickel and zinc from existing sludge. SOLUTION: In a wastewater treatment and valuable metal recovery method, the pH of nickel and zinc-containing wastewater is adjusted to 0.5-4 and the pH of the resulting solution is again adjusted to 13 or more to separate and recover liquids respectively containing nickel hydroxide and zinc or sludge comprising nickel hydroxide and/or zinc hydroxide is dissolved using an acid and the pH of the obtained solution is adjusted to 0.5-4 and, thereafter, the pH of the solution is again adjusted to 13 or more to separate and recover liquids respectively containing nickel hydroxide and zinc.
