To provide a bill conveying unit capable of stably gripping a bill while it moves through a conveying path of a bill recovery device and being manufactured at a low cost.

In the bill conveying unit 1, bills are held between a rib-like projection group 31 divided into a plurality of parts disposed in a base member 3 and a gripping member 5 facing them. At this time, the projection group 31 largely elastically deforms only around the part facing a claw 5a of the gripping member 5, and can strongly grip the bill by its reaction force. Since sufficient reaction force is obtained by elastic deformation of the projection group 31, a space by a step section or the like is not required to be disposed between the rear surface of the base member 3 and a unit body 2, and the base member 3 can be stably fixed to the unit body 2.
