Abstract:

To provide a small system for detecting occupant somatotype at low cost by using EF technique.

Each of electrodes CH1-CH3 on a seat is connected to a charge and discharge switch CHG_SW respectively through charge resistors Rc1-Rc3 and electrode selective switches CH_SEL_1-CH_SEL_3. The charge and discharge switch CHG_SW switches charge/discharge with on/off action. The charge and discharge switch CHG_SW is connected each one end of discharge resistors Rd1, Rd2 and the other end of the discharge resistor Rd1 is earthed. The other end of the discharge resistor Rd2 is earthed through a switch R_SEL. The switch R_SEL and the charge and discharge switch CHG_SW are switched to charge and discharge with two kinds of discharge resistors Rd1, (Rd1//Rd2) and measure the discharge time at each resistor.
