Title:
不溶性金属電極の製造方法及び該電極を使用する電解槽
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP4157615
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an infusible electrode in a simple and small-size device by suspending a diamond fine powder having conductivity in a liquid containing a valve metal salt to prepare a coating liquid, applying the coating liquid on a valve metal base body, and pyrolyzing to form an electrode material layer. SOLUTION: Impurities such as boron, phosphorus and graphite are added to a diamond fine powder to give conductivity. As for the electrode base body, a material essentially comprising a valve metal or valve metal alloy such as titanium, tantalum, niobium and zirconium is used. The conductive diamond fine powder is suspended in a soln. of the valve metal salt. The obtd. coating liquid is applied on a base body and pyrolyzed at about 450 to 650 deg.C to form a rutile-type oxide layer having poor crystallinity on the surface. Thus, the electrode material layer is deposited on the surface of the base body. The obtd. infusible metal electrode has high oxygen overvoltage and can be widely used as an anode for the production of oxygen and ozone by electrolysis of water, and moreover, for the electrolytic oxidation of org. substances. Further, the obtd. electrode can be used as a cathode.
