To provide a new gene which involves in a neuralizing induction in spinal animals and its protein and to provide a method for utilize the gene and the protein.
An XMAN1 gene which involves in the neuralizing induction of an animal cap of Xenopus laevis is isolated and structures of the XMAN1 gene and an XMAN1 protein are determined. A molecular mechanism of morphogenesis by neuralizing induction in the spinal animals is elucidated through a functional analysis of the XMAN1 gene and the XMAN1 protein. A human MAN1 which is a human homologue protein of the XMAN1 protein and its gene can similarly be utilized. The present invention further enables application of therapeutic agents and a therapeutic method for nervous system disorders.
