To provide a job management system that enables the user to safely manage and operate jobs created by the user's own device, without accepting operations by others.
A host device creates an identifier corresponding to a job and an encrypted identifier resulting from the encryption of the identifier, and manages the job using the identifier and the encrypted identifier. When the encrypted identifier corresponding to the job to be given to an image forming apparatus is added to operate another job previously given to the image forming apparatus, an authentication request including the corresponding identifier is given to the image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus manages each job by means of both the identifier obtained by decryption of the encrypted identifier added to each job given and the encrypted identifier, and, in response to the authentication request including the identifier received from the host device, collates the identifier with the previously managed identifier to authenticate the owner of each job and accept operations by the authenticated owner to each job.
