An optical element covering member has: one, two, or more film-shaped or sheet-shaped optical elements; a plate-shaped supporting medium for supporting the one, two, or more optical elements; and a contractible covering member for covering the one, two, or more optical elements and the supporting medium. The one, two, or more optical elements and the supporting medium construct a stacked member, the stacked member has an incident surface into which light from a light source enters, a transmission surface for transmitting the light which has entered from the incident surface, and edge surfaces locating between the incident surface and the transmission surface. The covering member is closely adhered to the stacked member and covers the transmission surface, the incident surface, and all edge surfaces of the stacked member. A thickness t of the supporting medium, a length L of a side of the supporting medium, and a tensile force F of the covering member satisfy a relational expression 0 ‰¤ F ‰¤ 1.65 × 10 4 × t/L under an environment of a temperature of 70°C (where, t: distance between an incident surface and a transmission surface of the supporting medium, L: length of a side closed by the covering member among the sides constructing a surface perpendicular to the thickness t, and F: tensile force of the covering member which acts in the direction parallel with the side of the length L).
