To provide a portable telephone in which information data are replaced only by a simple operation in which portable telephones are brought into contact with each other.
When the portable telephones are brought into contact with each other, a controller which senses its vibration establishes a communication protocol using an infrared communication means between both the portable telephones, by transmitting a vibration detection signal α to the portable telephone 1B of the transmission side from the portable telephone 1A of the reception side by using the infrared communication means, and returning a transmission preparation complete signal β to the portable telephone 1A of the reception side by using the infrared communication means by the portable telephone 1B of the transmission side receiving the vibration detection signal α; and replaces the information data by using this infrared communication means. Since it is sufficient that the portable telephones are merely brought into contact with each other, the information data is replaced simply and rapidly.
