To prevent failure in which image data shown on an image display means is not photographed.
The imaging device includes: an imaging element (106); an image display means (107) which displays image data obtained using the imaging element; a control means for controlling the drive of the image display means; and a mirror member (111) which advances into or retracts from a photographing optical path and transmits the luminous flux of at least part of an imaging luminous flux through the imaging element side in the course of advancing in the photographing optical path. In the course of the advancement of the mirror member in the photographing optical path, the control means does not display the area of part of image data and displays the area of the other part of it onto the image display means.
