Abstract:
Organopolysiloxanes with one in-chain quat. ammonium group per repeat unit are new. Organopolysiloxanes with quat. ammonium groups, containing units of formula (I') are new. R = optionally substituted, Si-C linked 1-12C hydrocarbyl; R<1> = optionally substituted 1-12C hydrocarbyl or a component of a bridging alkylene group; R<2> = a hydrocarbylene group with at least 4 carbon atoms and at least one hydroxyl group, optionally with in-chain oxygen(s); X = an organic or inorganic anion; b = 1-200; and n = 1-50. Independent claims are also included for (1) (1) organopolysiloxanes with quat. ammonium groups as in formula (I) (2) (2) a method for the production of (I') and (I) by reacting alpha ,, omega -epoxy-terminated organopolysiloxanes with prim. amines, sec. amines and/or salts of sec. amines. D<1> = H, hydroxyl, halide, NH2 or a monovalent organic residue; D<2> = a group of formula -R<2>-(SiR2O)b-SiR2-R<2>-D<1>; and a = 0 or 1.
