To provide an automatic authentication method in print processing and a system for it dispensing with identification ID/password input operation by a user and improving secrecy securement, by automatically performing authentication, based on print information embedded in a file and information in an application program, without requiring input operation by the user.
In print processing requiring user authentication, a printer driver 202 extracts information about an application 201 and/or a document to be printed as attribute information 206 and compares the attribute information with storage information in a user registration information database 208 for performing user authentication. When user authentication is certified, a printer 204 is made to execute printing, and a server manages and accumulates charging by section units in a section management information database 211.
