The filing tool having a file main body accompanying an IC chip 1 for storing a peculiar identifier to its part or having a storing space FS for storing a plurality of papers S, comprises a paper presence-detecting means 301 which detects presence of the paper S accompanying the IC chip 1 by detecting presence of the IC chip 1 storing an identifier corresponding to detection-requesting information when the detection-requesting information corresponding to a part or the whole of an identifying record containing the identifier; and a paper presence-informing means 302 for emitting a paper presence-informing signal which indicates the detection of the presence of the paper S when the presence of the paper S is detected by the paper presence-detecting means 301.
