To provide a paper money discrimination apparatus capable of accurately discriminating a paper money even when lack exists in the feature data of an acquired paper money.
The paper money discrimination apparatus 1 is provided with a transport part 15 for transporting a paper money, a paper money measuring means 11 for measuring the feature quantities of the transported paper money and acquiring feature data and a discrimination means 27 for discriminating the paper money on the basis of the acquired feature data and reference feature data. The discrimination means 27 is constituted so as to detect lack of the acquired feature data, generate processed feature data compensating the lacked feature data, and when the processed feature data are generated, discriminate the paper money on the basis of the processed feature data and the reference feature data.
