To realize a simple auto-negotiation function easy in verification in a transmission control system and transmission control method using a MAC frame for transmission.
Each of transmission apparatuses 1A, 1B comprises a termination section 2 including a detection function for a link fault caused by transmission/reception with a counter transmission apparatus over a transmission line 6, a MAC frame termination section for terminating a MAC frame that is exchanged between the transmission apparatuses 1A, 1B via the termination section 2, and a control processing section 5 that controls the termination section 2 and the MAC frame termination section 3 to set auto-negotiation information containing at least link fault information according to link fault detection information from the termination section 2 to the MAC frame in the MAC frame termination section and to allow the counter transmission apparatus to send the MAC frame and for performing processing according to the auto-negotiation information received by the MAC frame termination section 2.
