Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make continuously separable with good efficiency a water-in-oil emulsion consisting of an organic solvent solution of a polycarbonate resin and an aqueous solution and having a specified liquid drop surface area median value by passing the emulsion through a primary metallic filter medium having a specified filtration accuracy and then passing the filtrate through a secondary metallic filter medium having a specified filtration gradient coefficient in relation to that. SOLUTION: The liquid drop surface are median value is 0.02-5 m2/g. The materials, from which the primary and secondary filter media are made, are each desirably a high-energy material having a surface energy of at least 200 cal/cm3, especially, a material containing 11-30 wt.% Cr. The filtration accuracy of the primary metallic filter medium is 1-100 μm, and the filtration gradient coefficient of the secondary filter medium is 1.1-20 in relation to the primary filter medium. Because of the suitability for regeneration, each filter medium has a thickness of 0.1-5 mm. Although the filter media may be a woven fabric or a nonwoven fabric, the later is desirable in respect of filtration accuracy and thickness.
