Abstract:

To attain efficient utilization of IP address by integrating fixed IP address range with automatic IP assignment range of DHCP operation, reduction in IP address management man-hour of an IP address manager, and automatic acquisition of a fixed IP which is desired by a user.

When a user wishes to use a fixed IP in terminals 14 and 15; the user selects a desirable network address, an object terminal MAC address, and a desirable setting method of a fixed IP for a host apparatus 11 through a Web. The host apparatus 11 acquires operational information of IP address from an IP-ARP table 112 held in a layer 3 switch 12, assigns a non-operating smallest IP as the fixed IP from the DHCP range of a network address desired by the user, and removes the fixed IP from the DHCP lease range of a DHCP server 13. Automatic extension of IP segment can be carried out at a network segment automatic extension 102.
