In the electrochemical element having an electrode plate group composed of at least one first electrode (a), at least one second electrode (b), and a separator (c) interposed between the first and the second electrodes (a), (b), each of the first electrodes (a) is composed of a first collector sheet and at least one first electrode mixture layer carried thereby, and each of the second electrodes (b) is composed of a second collector sheet and at least one second electrode mixture layer carried thereby. Each of the electrode mixture layer has end portions covered with an insulating material, and the insulating material is at least one material selected from a group composed of a resin coating film and a resin tape.
