To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery forming a battery can by working a resin-coated metal plate and making use of a resin film for an outer coating unnecessary.
An electrode group 14 is housed in a battery can 1 formed in a cylinder with bottom by working a metal plate on which a resin coating layer 28 is formed, and a sealing plate 3 having a recessed part is welded to an opening end of the battery can 1 for sealing. A temperature fuse 8 and a PTC element 9 are arranged in the recessed part of the sealing plate 3, a positive electrode lead 12 of the electrode group 14 is connected to a terminal plate 8a through the PTC element 9 and the temperature fuse 8, and a negative electrode 13 is connected to the sealing plate 3. The terminal plate 8a is exposed to the outside from a positive electrode opening part 11a formed in an insulating plate 11 covering the sealing plate 3 and used as a positive terminal (+), and a sealed plug 10 welded to the sealing plate 3 is exposed to the outside from a negative electrode opening part 11b and used as a negative terminal (-).
