To provide a technique for reducing the metal and removing alkali metal, halogen elements and the other impurities by using the powder of metal oxide as the raw material in a rotary hearth type reducing furnace, and to provide a technique of performing the separation recovery of zinc and lead from dust or the like in a refining furnace by a rotary hearth type reducing furnace.
A mixture of powder comprising metal oxide reduced by carbon monoxide gas heated at a high temperature and carbon-containing powder is mixed with water to produce slurry. The slurry is stirred, and alkali metal halide is dissolved into water. Thereafter, dehydration is performed to produce a lump of a dehydrated product, and it is reduced in a rotary hearth type reducing furnace. The contents of alkali metal and halide in dust in exhaust gas generated at this time are reduced, and their adhesion is reduced. As a result of the operation, the dust in the exhaust gas reduced in alkali metal and halogen metal is recovered.
