To provide a filtration apparatus having a filter-holder which, at filter replacement, allows a used filter to be replaced by a new one, without discharging a fluid containing foreign matters from the upstream side of the used filter towards the downstream side of the new filter.

The filtration apparatus is so constructed that at filter replacement, it allows a filter to be inserted/removed through an opening formed on an upper portion of a fluid flowing passage. The apparatus comprises a stopper provided on the fluid flowing passage for contacting a filter from the downstream side of the fluid flowing passage so as to position the filter and pressing means having an area located on the downstream side of the stopper for receiving at least one filter, which pressing means is provided in a manner such that it can press the at least one filter received in the above area, using a pressing force acting from the downstream side of the stopper. A new filter inserted between the used filter and the pressing means is allowed to move to a position where an upper side filter is installed.
