Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium adaptive to high speed recording as a quenching structure and having a good recording sensitivity and to provide a structure by which the warpage of a substrate is corrected, the substrate is hardly damaged and high amplitude (high modulation) is obtained, in an optical recording medium for high density recording having a phase change type recording layer. SOLUTION: In the recording medium wherein a reflective radiation layer consisting of Al alloy, a first protective layer, a recording layer constituted of Ge, Sb and Te as principal constituents and a second protective layer consisting of a mixture of ZnS and SiO2 are layered in this order on a substrate having a groove formed thereon, an adhesion layer and a covering layer are formed on the second protecting layer, the first protective layer consists of two layers of a mixture layer of ZnS and SiO2 and a layer of Ta2 O5 and the layer of Ta2 O5 is formed on the reflective radiation layer side. Higher amplitude is obtained by optimizing the width of the groove of the substrate.
