Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium and a recording material employed for the same, capable of being applied for a DVD-R disc system employing a semiconductor laser having an oscillating wavelength in a short wave length and excellent in resistance to light as well as storage stability. SOLUTION: The optical recording medium consisting of a recording layer provided on a substrate contains in the recording medium at least one kind of an azo metal chelate compound, shown in a general formula (I) while consisting of an azo compound and a metal, metal oxide or the salt of the same. (In the formula, a circle A represents a residue forming a heterocycle integrated with a nitrogen atom having a carbon atom, connected to the circle A, and an active hydrogen, the circle B shows a remaining group forming an aromatic group integrated with two carbon atoms connected to the circle B while X shows a group having no active hydrogen).
