Abstract:
The invention relates to encased monolithic sorbents based on porous shaped bodies. The generated surface of the said monolithic sorbent is enclosed by a pressure-resistant casing, made for example of plastic, so as to be liquid tight. The inventive casing is in particular suited for porous shaped bodies having interconnected macropores as well as mesopores in the macropore walls. The macropores have a median diameter of over 0.1 mu m, and the mesopores have a median diameter of 2-100 nm. The invention also relates to the use of the inventive monolithic sorbent in a chromatographic column or a chromatographic cartridge, as well as to the use of the inventive monolithic sorbent for the chromatographic separation of at least two substances.
