To provide a fingerprint verification unit offering easy operation and improved reading accuracy of the finger print with its shape to be pressed against by a finger.
The fingerprint verification unit 1 includes an upper housing 11 attached to a lower housing 21 with a joint part 31 and a fingerprint reading means 2 to read a fingerprint image attached to the upper housing 11, the lower housing 21, or both of them. A converting means 3 to convert a fingerprint image to fingerprint information, a memory means 4 to store the fingerprint information, a verification means 5 to verify the fingerprint information, an informing means 6 to inform a result of the verification, and a communication means 10 to output the fingerprint information to an external device are attached to the upper housing 11 and/or the lower housing 21.
