To provide a receiver capable of performing diversity reception for properly managing its operating state.

The receiver is provided with: a plurality of RF tuners 2A to 2C; a selector switch 3 for selecting an RF tuner to be in use; and a digital demodulation section 4 for demodulating a signal outputted from the RF tuner selected by the selector switch 3. The receiver controls the selector switch 3 to select the state of the receiver between a first state wherein output signals from a plurality of the RF tuners are composed and the composed signal is given to the digital demodulation section 4 and a second state wherein an output signal of the single RF tuner is given to the digital demodulation section 4 in response to information included in a broadcast wave being a reception object.
