Abstract:

To protect a robot body, and to secure safety of an environment and people by applying no force directly between the robot and the environment or people coming into the robot.

This mobile robot performs work in the environment or crowd. The robot includes: an outer covering 13 formed to wrap the robot body 11; and an outer covering position adjusting mechanism 14 for lifting and supporting the outer covering 13 so that the outer covering 13 does not come into contact with the floor surface 15. In the outer covering position adjusting mechanism 14, the external force 16 is supported by the outer covering 13 by lowering the outer covering 13 to come into contact with the floor surface 15 when the outer covering 13 comes into contact with the environment or people to apply the external force 16 to the robot.
