Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus capable of prolonging the life of the line head, using a line head having a recording element row elongating in the entire range of one side of a maximum size subject recording medium, capable of quickly recording an image in a simple operation. SOLUTION: This apparatus comprises a line head, a supplying means suited for recording media of a plurality of sizes for supplying a recording medium of a designated size to a predetermined image recording position, an adjusting means for adjusting the relative positions of the line head and the recording medium in the recording element row direction so as to have a substantially equal total driving number of recording elements prior to an image recording operation, a scanning means for moving relatively the line head and the recording medium in the direction orthogonal to the recording element row, and a driving means for driving the line head according to the position adjustment by the adjusting means and a recording image.
