Abstract:

To provide a short arc type mercury vapor discharge lamp in which emission intensity maintenance factor is high and which has a long life by removing emission of ultraviolet rays of 250 nm or less and by emitting ultraviolet rays of 365 nm with high efficiency, and by suppressing deterioration of a quartz glass bulb.

This is the short arc type mercury vapor discharge lamp in which a positive electrode and a negative electrode are arranged opposed to each other in a quartz glass bulb in which titanium oxide is doped, a rare gas and mercury are filled, and the rare gas is at least one kind or more selected from crypton/argon/neon/helium and filled 1×105 Pa or more by 25°C conversion, and mercury is filled in the range from 0.2 mg/cm3to 10 mg/cm3per unit volume of the capacity inside the bulb. Then, when the maximum diameter of the positive electrode is made D (cm), its length L (cm), the half of the maximum diameter of the nearly spherical part of the bulb R (cm), 0.24≤(D×L)/R2≤1.34 applies, and when the average concentration of titanium in the bulb thickness direction is made N (wtppm), 5≤N≤60 applies.
