Abstract:

To provide a material for cutting, to which higher toughness and higher hardness are desired in applications such as a cutting tool and an abrasion-resistant and impact-resistant tool, and specifically a hard metal material containing carbon nanotubes for the tool, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor.

The tungsten-carbide-cobalt-based hard metal material for a tool is obtained by adding the carbon nanotube of 0.01 to 1.00 wt% to a raw powder comprising a tungsten carbide powder of 85 to 95 wt% and the balance of a cobalt powder, and liquid-phase sintering it; and has a deflection strength of 2,700 MPa or higher.
