To provide a bobbin for an optical fiber, with which the manufacturing time of the optical fiber coated with a thermosetting resin having heat resistance can be shortened; and to provide a method for manufacturing the optical fiber by using the bobbin.

When the optical fiber 18 coated with the thermosetting resin is manufactured, a glass fiber 13 is drawn by heating and melting an optical fiber preform 11 and the optical fiber 18, obtained by applying the thermosetting resin on the surface of the glass fiber 13, is wound on a winding bobbin 30. The coating of the thermosetting resin is cured by additionally heating the wound optical fiber 18 together with the winding bobbin 30 to remove solvent components contained in the thermosetting resin. Thereby, the manufacturing time can be shortened in comparison with the manufacturing time in the case that a coating is cured by sufficiently heating the optical fiber when it is wound.
