Abstract:

To provide a carbon fiber strand affording a carbon-fiber reinforced resin composite material having excellent adhesiveness to an unsaturated matrix resin and excellent physical properties such as wettability and ILSS (interlaminar shear strength).

The carbon fiber strand is obtained by applying a sizing agent comprising an ester compound containing functional groups represented by general formula (1) [wherein, R1denotes hydrogen, a 1-4C alkyl group or a 1-4C hydroxyalkyl group] at both ends of the compound and an isocyanic acid ester compound. The functional groups represented by general formula (1) are preferably an acryloyl group, a methacryloyl group or an α-(hydroxymethyl)acryloyl group.
