Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent recording of a stream where an encoding amount in fixed- length unit exceeds the upper limit of an fixed-length conversion amount. SOLUTION: The stream encoded into variable length is supplied to a memory 531 and an encoding amount measuring instrument 530. The measuring instrument 530 measures the encoding amount in fixed-length unit of an input stream. Unless the measurement result exceeds a total encoding amount which is regulated concerning the fixed-length unit, the stream stored in the memory 531 is outputted and recorded in a magnetic tape 516. When the result exceeds the regulated total encoding amount, a control signal is outputted to a recording amplifier 515' to stop a recording signal. The encoding amount in fixed-length unit is measured with respect to the inputted stream and recording to the magnetic tape 516 is controlled based on the measurement result so that it is prevented to record the stream in the magnetic tape 516 which exceeds the fixed-length amount.
