Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an electronic equipment small in size or reduced in power consumption in accordance with its usage by providing a connecting means for connection with the electronic equipment and a mode deciding means for deciding an operation mode in accordance with instruction from the equipment. SOLUTION: It is confirmed whether a memory card 200, 210 or an I/O card 220 is newly installed in an n-th card slot or not through the use of a card attachment/detachment detecting part 98 and an n-th card slot flag. A system control part 50 sets the starting signal line of a connector corresponding to an n-th card connector between the card connectors 92 and 96 and starts power source supply to the card connector. When the memory card or the I/O card which is newly installed in the n-th card slot corresponds to a True-IDE mode or a True-I/O mode which is operated by a small number of address signal lines, the memory card or the I/O card is respectively started by the True-IDE mode or the True-I/O mode.
