To provide an organic EL element with an organic layer having a plurality of light emitting layers different at least in light emission color laminated between a pair of electrodes, with which the service life can be lengthened for emitting light for a long time with predetermined brightness.

The organic EL element consists of an organic layer 5 having at least a plurality of light emitting layers (first and second light emitting layers) 5b and 5c between a pair of electrodes. The respective light emitting layers 5b and 5c are formed by mixing a host material, light emitting materials different in the highest occupancy orbit level and a hole transporting material respectively. In addition, the element is formed such that concentrations of the host material and the hole transporting material included in the light emitting layer 5b are high with a larger difference in the highest occupancy orbit level.
