Abstract:

To obtain a sufficient battery capacity and charge and discharge cycle characteristics in an alkaline storage battery in which a nickel electrode for the alkaline storage battery composed by filling up conjugate particles into a conductive substrate wherein the surface of nickel hydroxide or active material particles having nickel hydroxide as the main component is covered by a cobalt compound containing sodium is used as a positive electrode.

In the nickel electrode 1 for the alkaline storage battery wherein the conjugate particles 21 in which the surface of the nickel hydroxide or the active material particles having the nickel hydroxide as the main component is covered by the cobalt compound containing sodium are filled into the conductive substrate, a specific conductivity of the compound particles is set within the range of 1.0×10-3to 1.0×10-2(S cm-1), and a filling density of the conjugate particles to the conductive substrate is set at 2.8 g/cm3-void or more.
