To manufacture a high firmness coke, when high density particles are blended with coal and the resultant mixture is pyrolyzed in a coke oven, wherein the particles are made by molding waste plastics.
A waste plastic, which contains low temperature softening plastics i. e. polyethylene, polypropylene or polystyrene at a ratio of 50% or more in total, is used as a raw material. The waste plastic is molded by a molding method wherein a material is extruded from a nozzle by using a screw type pushing device. The waste plastic is brought to a temperature of 180-260°C in a molding apparatus, and a gas in the molding apparatus is sucked. By this operation, polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene are converted into a molten state, and the gas in the plastics is reduced. After compression molding the resin in that state by extruding from a 15-60 mm diameter nozzle, the extruded material is cut and then cooled by a water-cooling means within 3 seconds after cutting.
