To provide a hot water storage type water heater which can be reliably used for a long period of time by further reducing an adhered scale amount, and further improving reliability.
The hot water storage type water heater is provided with at least a hot water storage tank 11, a heating means 12 for heating its stored water, a water temperature detector 13 detecting its water temperature, and a control means 14 for controlling the heating means 12 to carry out boiling such that the stored hot water temperature detected by the water temperature detector 13 is consistent with a set temperature. The control means 14 raises the temperature to the set temperature T(1) reducing a scale adhered amount to a water contacting part 15 of the heating means at first, and then it maintains the temperature until a set time H(1) wherein scales are deposited and floating in the stored hot water of the hot water storage tank 11. Boiling control is carried out by raising the water temperature stepwise to the set temperature T by using a temperature raising mode. By this, the scale amount adhered to the heating means 12 is reduced, reliability is improved, and the hot water storage type water heater can be reliably used for a long period.
