Abstract:
To provide an optical fiber cord and a method of removing its coating, wherein coating removal properties are improved in the optical fiber cord of a tight type structure without impairing tensile strength and flexural rigidity.
Onto the periphery of the core fiber 11 of an optical fiber, for which a core fiber coating 13 is applied to the exterior of the optical fiber 12, a polyethylene fiber of ultrahigh molecular weight is vertically attached or spirally wound, forming a nearly concentric circular polyethylene fiber layer 15 of the ultrahigh molecular weight. From the outside of this formation, an ultraviolet ray setting resin 16 is impregnated and hardened to form a fiber reinforcing layer 14.
