To provide a device for evaluating a network quality in which the line speed of a network need not be confirmed previously, when a probe is fitted between the networks.
In the device for evaluating the network quality, arbitrary packet data are taken in through the probe from a plurality of places of the communication network and the communication quality of the network is evaluated by the data. In the device, the probe has a first port connecting a line at a first speed, a second port connecting the line at a second speed, and a first speed detector connected to the first port and detecting the line speed of the network. In the device, the probe further has a second speed detector connected to the second port and detecting the line speed of the network and an arithmetic processor setting the line speed on the basis of the line speeds detected by the first speed detector and the second speed detector.
