Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively purify exhaust gas by effectively restricting emission of soot generated in a combustion chamber of an engine into the atmosphere. SOLUTION: This purifier is provided with a fuel injection valve 5 to inject fuel into a combustion chamber 4, a main combustion control means 36 to control to obtain demand torque of the engine by main combustion of main injection fuel from the fuel injection valve 5 at least in the first half of an expansion stroke, and a post-combustion control means 38 to control for post- combustion of post-injection fuel from the fuel injection valve 5 to the reference of main combustion completing timing. This post-combustion control means 38 is composed to set the combustion timing based on the state of swirls in the combustion chamber 4 to provide the exhaust emission purifier and the exhaust emission purifying method for the engine.
