The transporting device (1) transports a stack of aligned sheets in a collecting device (2), which is detected on a stacking rest and displaced into an intermediate position (6). There is a fork (10) above the stacking rest to press the stack together at the ends, which can travel horizontally and vertically. It moves the banded stack (4) into the adjacent intermediate position.
