To provide a slag-fuming method which produces dust containing zinc and lead with little amount of arsenic and antimony, and a slag that stably satisfies standards for a soil environment, from a slag produced in a smelting furnace for smelting zinc and/or lead.
This slag-fuming method comprises the steps of: temporarily transferring the slag to a holding furnace; adding a copper source into the holding furnace and holding the slag under the coexistence of copper; subsequently fuming the slag by any one of the following methods (a) to (c): (a) transferring the slag and the copper alloy produced in the holding furnace to a fuming furnace, and fuming the slag under the coexistence of copper; (b) transferring only the slag produced in the holding furnace to the fuming furnace, adding a new copper source and fuming the slag under the coexistence of copper; and (c) transferring the slag produced in the holding furnace to the fuming furnace and fuming the slag; and then transferring the slag to a settling furnace to sediment the copper alloy suspending in the slag.
