Abstract:
A surfactant excellent in the ability to reduce dynamic surface tension (including foam inhibition, foam breakage, foam stabilization, antifoaming, etc.) and in solubility in water. The surfactant is characterized by comprising as an essential ingredient a polyoxyalkylene compound represented by the general formula (1). (Chemical Formula 1) {R-(OA)ni-}mQ (1) In the general formula (1), Q is a reaction residue formed by removing the hydrogen atoms from m primary hydroxy groups of a nonreducing di- or trisaccharide; OA is C2-4 oxyalkylene and R is C1-3 alkyl, C3 alkenyl, and/or hydrogen, provided that the m R's may be the same or different and the m (OA)ni's may be the same or different; and ni is an integer of 0 to 100, m is an integer of 2 to 4, and i is an integer of 1 to m, provided that the m ni's may be the same or different and at least one of these is 1 or larger and that the total number of OA's (Sigmanixm) is 20 to 100.
